Need opinion from experience.
Will Harlard Sharp rockers fit under OEM valve covers?
Will I need to modify valve covers?
Use 2 gaskets?
Wanting to build 455 with Edelbrock aluminum heads to fit in gbody with AC. I know it will be tight.

I believe baffles needed trimmed and double gaskets for full roller rocker arms. You can also fit them with Edelbrock/M/T valve covers with no baffles in place. Also expect to modify the A/C box. Of course just installing an Olds V8 in a G body usually does it by accident. Also expect a 2" drop base air filter with a BBO. A 350 stroker or 403 definitely fits better as the car was designed for the short deck, second gen Olds V8.

I know you need short poly locks (.75"?). From there, I think you can dimple the baffles without completely removing them, and, as mentioned, double gaskets or a rail spacer.

I'm doing the same thing (87 442, 455 w/ A/C). I'm trying these to see if they work since they have the indents for A/C and Brake Booster on 67-72 Olds BB cars (got mine from this cool guy on here ☝️)

Here's my height comparison between the older BB covers and a pair of 73-74 "Script" covers:

Even with the A/C indent they seem to stand taller than the script style. I think with the double thick gaskets it may work fine.

Here are my Rollers I'm using

Hope that helps some.

It's been a while since I've seen my covers . I have three pairs. Going dig them out. I think I have some olds script and ones with indents. The roller rockers I'm looking at are the 851-5001.

Only way to know is to test fit them. Some aluminum heads have raised valve cover rails, so a stock cover may then fit even with roller rockers.

My 455 had Edelbrock aluminum heads 1.65 procomp roller rockers and the chrome Edelbrock valve covers did not fit rocker arms hit the baffle
