What he said.(y) The 90* one goes on the other end.

While we're picking on it, wtf is with the extra long head bolt/ stud thing?

how are you prepping this?
When I get to that point, hot tanked from the machine shop, then cleaned and degreased thoroughly by me. Probably (3) times. I just wanted to know if there is any way to keep this from happening. An additive, a special high heat primer... or just clean, clean, clean and use a ceramic engine paint? What do you say??

One thing you could do that might help is port match the exhaust manifolds to the heads. Gas acts very much like a liquid under exhaust flow conditions and if the exhaust manifold openings are not at least as big as the exhaust ports in the heads you will get gas rollback. This will cause a hot spot at the blockage. Look how thin the metal around the exhaust ports in the head are. There is not enough metal there to dissipate the heat passing through to the exhaust manifold.

Eastwood has ceramic primers too. Most of those spray bombs and quarts for engine paints though no matter who makes them are only heat resistant to 650 deg F, which is pretty good, but in that particular area, you're likely to see it hotter in that area. It'll last a while, but eventually you'll likely be redoing that little area from time to time.

Came across this while thumbing through an old issue of High Performance Pontiac, figured it may be useful since Pontiacs have the same problem with the exhaust ports.
