Has the General become Boring?

Anyone appreciate the irony of the Amazon guilt you into climate change commercials that started airing right as their owner/founder started spewing u told massive amounts of emissions on his private ***** error rocket launches?
Or all the diapers they force their warehouse workers to wear to reduce lost time from bathroom breaks.

The GMT800 was one of the last good vehicles GM put out. Those damned things seem to last forever.

GM's current styling is horrid on almost everything. The Blazer vs Bronco is a great example. Everything including and probably especially the Camaro has awkward lines. Their V8 is also lagging in the power department on their current V8. The Cadillac Blackwing V8 was an awesome modern motor that lasted one year! They made it Cadillac exclusive, all hand assembled. It was way too expensive to make, so they just dumped it! Why not put it on the regular assembly line and have it in every product line, including Buick for a new GNX. I got called out on the Challenger Z site by a guy who traded in his Challenger SXT that he Supercharged for a Camaro SS. I made the Barf symbol, he took offense and told me how he was sickened by my Mopar prejudice🤣. I have owned more GM products than anything else. They just need to make something less than butt ugly and a cheese grater grill Camaro ain't it. GM need to pull their heads out of their asses.

I dunno, I think my friend's 6th Gen ZL1 1LE is pretty sweet. Not sure why people aren't buying more Camaros? The Mustang and Challenger have both looked the same for the last 15 or so years so I don't see why the Camaro gets so much crap for it.
Beyond ugly is the issue, especially the models with the big plastic, cheese grater grill.

As a disclaimer, I came from a GM family. My dad worked for GM from before I was born to 1986 when he retired. While this brought some "insider" information to the table, it also was our bread and butter, so I was always paying close attention to what GM was doing. And early on, my Dad was an Oldsmobile man. I got the Olds bug when he brought home that 69 Cutlass S. His last Olds was an 84 Cutlass Calais.

GM has lost its way as a true innovator, IMO. They're always playing catch-up to someone. They're late to the game in almost everything. They think they're Lexus, thinking if they put the same grille into everything it just looks like a bigger or smaller version of something else in the same lineup. Too often you see the tech specs saying crap like "in order to compete with BMW whatever car...etc., etc.," Why not make the other car companies be the one chasing you?

From the newest cars we bought, I will say from personal experience, the 2020 CT5 4-door sedan the wife got is a pretty slick looking design, but still identifies with the Cadillac brand without looking like an SUV. My 2020 Denali is very nice. In comparison, I really loved my 2010 GMC Sierra. It was moving up there in mileage, but I took good care of it and it took good care of me. But as for the Denali, even a year later, I really like the conveniences and I do like the truck a lot, but I don't LOVE it.

A few years back, when I took the MIL's Focus to the dealer for some recall work, I took time to piddle around the showroom a bit and looked at a high-end Ford truck sitting in there. It was uninspiring to me. The touted aluminum body waved at me when I looked down the side of the truck. Body lines looked off for whatever reason. Not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. And THIS was the truck they wanted to show off in the showroom? No thank you. Not that I hate Fords, I'm just never been impressed with their styling in 99% of their lineup.

The only Chrysler product I'd ever own is a Challenger. But no time soon. I still like my current 5th gen Camaros too much.
Dad was a Ford man for years, converted to GM. He bought one too many 70's Ford's. They were lawsuit bad. Chrysler and Dodge were cobbled half *ss vehicles for years. My 2017 Challenger is so much better than the 2010 it replaced. My Wife's family are all GM but she would not own a Camaro. GM have lost their way.

As a person that earns their money repairing late-models daily, I say they're all junk.

Too many unnecessary "styling" exercises, flimsy molded plastic parts, and one-time use everything.

Why does an 88-98 Chevy bumper take one bar, and 4 brackets, while the current abomination uses 2 dozen parts and 70 pieces of hardware? FFS, you have to remove the cheek vents and bumper to replace a headlamp (which is a POS polycarbonate piece that is self-destructing from day one).

To be fair, many of these problems are industry wide, and especially domestic-branded wide.

I was looking for a new truck, V8, regular cab, shortbed. Yeah, good luck with that. Only Ford, and then no tow package. Sorry, don't need a $70K diesel to pull a car hauler a couple times a year and to work and back. Plus, styling sucks on most everything now.

Did things change? In 2018 I bought a f150, XLT, lightning blue metallic, 4x4, rcsb, 5.0 coyote v8, automatic, with a factory towing pkg and limited slip rear.

Could be they stopped it in the last year or two, or, could be whatever dealer you talked to wanted to sell what was on hand and was blowing smoke up your rear.

Over engineering for simple assembles. My old '08 Silverado required to remove the grill to remove the headlamp to replace a simple bulb.

Yep, first was the Tahoe/suburban/avalanches.. then the Malibu's, then the Silverado's... Now most all models across all makes are doing that. It makes my head hurt..

Let us not forget GM currently has an open recall to recall the plastic jacks in 20-21 blazers. Lol.
