Has the General become Boring?

I haven’t completely written off GM. They still make a good truck and have some of the best engines and drive trains out there. What bothers me is their cost cutting and how cheap they are. They are reluctant to add features like LED lighting, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise and collision assist as standard features while the competitors do it on base models. Look at Cadillac door panels as an example, they use cheap *ss polypropylene lower panels with crappy sharp edged map pockets, most of which have parting line flash….Junk. GM needs to try harder. Most of their interiors are like plastic milk jugs. Just one more reason my last new car purchase was a Lincoln.

I beg to differ.

Ram builds a rcsb.

Ford builds a rcsb.

Chevy/gmc? Crickets.

Then there's this abomination:

Many heads should've rolled over that. Not enough did.

Rather than redesign the silverado in a meaningful way its more of what gm has been known for over the past 30 years... cheap interiors, overpriced with stingy base options, and worked so hard to incorporate the shapes of the Ford headlights and taillights the whole truck looked off.

I am done with GM. Last 3 trucks sucked. One the cam needed to be replaced a 100k with regular synthetic oil changes. paint came off of a 2014 2 years old, Transmission issues on a 2016. Drive a Toyota Tacoma

Agreed, that one definitely looks like a c*ck but it’s it’s just one example.

I dunno, I think my friend's 6th Gen ZL1 1LE is pretty sweet. Not sure why people aren't buying more Camaros? The Mustang and Challenger have both looked the same for the last 15 or so years so I don't see why the Camaro gets so much crap for it.
Gm does zero advertising of their cars. Did you ever see an ad for the ss? GM sucks now, and has for a long time.

If thay gauge and center stack among other features look familiar it's because competitors used it for quite a few years now.

Instead of innovating, gm has (rather poorly) tried to rip off visual ques from its better competition that are already 3. 4, 5 years or more old, then rather poorly executing them with worse materials.

The overall effect is rather... blah. And it shows.

Back in the day gm was an innovator with its trucks, think of all the series - advance design, task force, action line, squarebody.... I mean there's a long line of bold leading the way in design and function.

Since... oh, say 2003 or so it started to falter and since has turned to total crap. Now the only thing they try that isn't a rip off of other trucks and playing catchup is what, the family truckster line? It was a joke when national lampoon introduced it 40 years ago and a joke now.

When was the last time you seen a Camaro ripping it up on a ad or even just an ad? The Mustang does get some advertising. The Challanger & Charger are almost always sacrificing tires in ads.
I didn’t see your comment when I posted mine. It’s crazy

To be fair, I don't really see many ads for any cars. I hardly ever watch TV but back when I did, that's where I'd see them.

None of those guys (Ford, GM, Dodge) advertises unless they're giving cash back or some other BS incentive. EVERY single commercial I've seen for cars and trucks are slanted toward incentives to get you to buy. Most of the other car models from European makers just show you a car and say "come buy me". But you won't be getting incentives unless you're lucky.

I'm about in a place to not give a crap who makes what anymore. I might be done buying new junk anyway. Getting too old for this crap. At this rate, I'll break 100K on the truck in about 40 more years. Oh, but I'll be dead before that.
