have I over cammed this engine?

😳 Now that you say that it just hit me its not ZERO decked 😳 I entered 0 for deck height I thought the compression seemed higher than it should be I defintely didnt want to have to run premium So on a different note I have all the info except the deck volume what would be a realistic number for a 355 that hasnt had any deck work?

Let's back up a step or two here. I'm no expert, but did you do any planning with this set-up or talk with an engine builder ahead of time?

I wouldn't "wing" it as you said. Component matching is what makes or breaks a good engine. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything. If you haven't really thought about this and planned it out, talk with someone that knows what's up before you start pissing away money.

On another note, how do you know your block hasn't had deck work? Did someone measure deck height and tell you what it was? Not trying to be a dick here, but this is one of those things you don't want to f*ck up and do twice. Take your time and have it done right or you'll have an expensive pile of parts.

If the issue here is detonation worries, on 10.9 compression with that cam its a matter of timing more than anything. It'll be fine on the street with high-test pump gas

If you do have a 10.9 to 1 compression I would consider a much larger cam to bleed off some of that cylinder pressure. If you don't want to go too big then just make sure you keep a tight lobe separation like 108 degrees or so. That should prevent detonation so you don't have to run a crappy super retarded timing curve. Vortec's are good though since you usually only have to run about 32 degrees all in for max power. Hope this helps.
