If you decide to drill the vortecs just make damn sure you have the intake where you want it and make sure you're drilling perpendicular to the head to intake mating surface and you will be fine. Just take your time, mark it out, center punch it, start with a smaller bit, then use the bit you need to tap out to 3/8". Good luck man, I do this modification to get rid of the vortec leak prone intake design.
Doug, wow thank you that had to be a ton of research. Your nap is much deserved. As far as drilling vortec heads goes do you think a machine shop would be able to do it for me or is it something that needs to be done on the car?
It might be cheaper to leave your Vortec's as is and buy a Vortec intake in stead (you should be able to sell the intake youve got now). A Vortec manifold would (should?) be made for the limits of the Vortec heads too!
