Hey, on a 1985 Cutlass Supreme, is the headlight switch illuminated at night? Mine is dark, so I was wondering if I have a burned out bulb...

Thanks....

If you are talking about the actual 3-button switch on the left side of the dash, then no. It is just a plastic switch with no lighting.

The lettering on the switch isn't illuminated but there is a fiber optic light that illuminuates the area around the switch. There's a small bulb behind the dash (I think its a 194 style) that feeds a fiber optic cable that runs up to the headlight switch area.

Apparently its pretty typical for these to either burnout or the fiber optic cable to come loose. I know mine hadn't worked for years and thought there wasn't supposed to be any illuminuation until a person told me about the bulb behind the dash.

Where exactly is that bulb located? I could seem to find anything like that on my '82 cutlass..

Should be up under the dash somwhere below where the headlight swtich it located.

I believe it is a white housing that completely encloses the bulb. Not sure if it is connected to anything or of it is just hanging there. You can try looking for a black wire looking connected to the switch assembly and following it back.

Yeah we took my dad's apart and the fiber optic cable was sitting there but not where it was supposed to be. They like to pop out. It's a very dim light though IDK if it's supposed to be a little brighter but I could barely tell.

Please take a picture when you get the chance..I'm very curious what to look for, because I haven't been able to see mine
