I walked around the yard for about an hour. I was able to get a decent dome light and the extra clips for $5. I went there to get the little speed nuts for the dome light and found a cleaner bezel than the one I have so it was a good day !! Plus I was able to take these photos. Not only to help me get my crap back together but maybe someone else will need this info down the road !!
Headliner Trim Clip Question

Another thing I realized as I was putting the first piece of trim up at the front of the car, the front and rear pieces have small V shaped notches cut into them. These notches are there to mark the centers of the clips so you dont have to guess where they go. GMs better idea !!!
Anyone need some of these clips? I have quite a few of rear and side clips nos. not gonna be cheap.
I have to remember the trick that you slide out the trim piece, then pull the clip off after pressing in on the retainer tab. Invisible when the trim is on.

I changed the headliner in my Monte Carlo yesterday because my original just dried out. The new one was pre covered with the fabric. It was a Christmas present from a Relative and the fabric was a perfect match. She ordered it from Rock Auto and everything matched up perfectly.
When I pulled the old one out I only had one back clip break. All the rest came out ok. Got lucky there.
I followed the advice other threads on here had with anchoring the back and front first, sides last. It took me a few hours but I took my time and had no issues.
It was nice to finally have a decent headliner again after 10 years of the waving flag hitting my head! lol
One piece of advice is make sure to wear plastic gloves and change them often to avoid getting smudges on the new headliner. My interior is the med gray color and light enough to make grease and dirt spots obvious.
