I totally agree with the vacuum hoses check.....I had the same thing happen and it was simple as changing the vacuum valve on the drivers side that goes into the top of the valve cover. Another time I changed my cap and rotor and accidentally mixed up 2 spark plug wires and it drove me crazy until I finally figured it out! I hope it's as simple as one of these! ....goodluck :wink:
 
ok heres the picture for reference on the dizzy place for the timing per my olds...which runs and idles pretty smooth
