I cant see the difference because the lighting in both pictures is totally different.

What did you do?

I think you can sort ogre difference on the hood and front bumper. The hood shows reflections much better now.

As mentioned before, a good machine polish would probably work wonders. There are a few readily available cleaner waxes that are worth trying: Meguiar's Color-X, available about anywhere and Duragloss #501 Marine & RV polish, usually available at NAPA. Both are a combination of wax and polish/cleaner. I would also recommend claying the paint first for maximum benefit.

When you get a chance to try the polish, please post back. Im interested to see how it turns out.

Also, if you were so inclined, and the paint on the car is decent quality (it looks to be), you could buy an el cheapo clear coat, wetsand the car to 400grit and just shoot the entire car with a few coats of clear. That will bring the shine back alright, and you wont care because it wont be a 4-5 digit paint job.

You could probably clear coat it for about $300 if you own a paint gun and compressor. That includes sand paper, masking tape, reducer, activator, etc etc.

I tried the Meguairs Ultimate Compound last weekend and It made a little bit of a difference. I did find out however that the problem is not the clear, its the paint itself. It was mixed with moisture or had some other problem when it was spayed. Im not sure how long it has been painted, but it is showing its age, ie: chipping and coming off in various places. I really need to just get a regular polisher instead of an orbital one to really cut the paint. Im planning on driving it around for a while like it is to really break the car in, and maybe do the bodywork and paint next summer. I'll post pics soon of how the compound worked.

I agree, the orbital is basically like doing it by hand but you hurt less afterwards.

You wont see a difference without using a proper buffer at 2200rpm.
