But Ive never had just cables that caused a total failure. I had a 67 Camaro that always had one cable go bad,& you could never tell from looking at the outside of it, but it just acted like a weak battery

The cables corrode inside the covering, but the cable might not be bad with a loose connection. I had one car that would completely shut off taking right hand turns but not left, the cable was loose at the starter.

grab a multimeter and go hunting.since all power is gone i wouldnt suspect a fusible link but a bad ground connection at the battery to the engine..not expensive and would likely fix your issues right up replacing the cable and cable nut or bolt or whatever you have.or just an old crapped out battery

I didnt see it mentioned, maybe it was. Anywho, check the terminals themselves and make sure they aren't loose in the battery itself. Depends on if your using the side or top post though!
I had a faulty battery that the terminals were loose in the battery and my cutlass would just shut off outta nowhere!!! Sitting at a red light and it would just kill over, hit a good bump and lose all power!!!!
Took the 2 month old battery back, got a different brand and didnt have an issue after that!
Keep us posted man.

It's probably not the cables, start checking all your connections. (Do I hear an echo?) Grab multi meter and start checking for continuity and power.
