Hello I'm the NEW GUY.looking for some advice..Ive searched through an hour of other guys problems but none matched mine so please if you can help...The Beast is an 81 GP with a new crate 3.8 no smog, no CCC motor ,until recently it had a mild RV cam 4.78 intake or something and a 2 3/4" camero style dual exhaust....no longer , I had to put the stock exhaust and the cam went flat and was replaced with stock also....I tell you this Because the Holley worked perfectly with the set-up as this: Edelbrock highrise intake, hedman headers, a hot HEI, Th350 stage 2,B&M 3,000 converter, and Camero 3.73 rearend. So after my PONY chaser got detuned (not my choice) I now have a "rich" situation... and need to drive this car daily...... Is it possible to lean this carb enough or am I doomed to live with this until I can afford another Cam shaft....I have added about as much air to the mixture as mechanically possible

I am no expert on the subject, but.....it seems to me like that's too much carb for the motor. What about going with a stock style replacement? Didn't those 3.8's all come with two barrels?

It also sounds to me like there's too much carb for that engine. Perhaps you can go back to a two barrel, or a smaller 4-barrel like a 500 cfm...or if you can find a 500 cfm Holley 2-barrel.

so true but the short answer is... work 1st buy stuff later, I'm hoping that maybe theres some way to disable the 3rd and 4th barrels or some magical voodoo from the GBodyForum specialists, even tho there seems to be a lack of Buick 231 info here...Believe me when I say that I would much rather have a 572 or a couple little turbos for my 3.8
