I was ready to bring my 81 cutlass home from my fathers shop this weekend after 3 years of putting it together. I have put abot 200 miles on it since we have gotten it together. the other day he got in it to start it and it didnt want to turn the starter very well, and then boom no power to anything. After crawling all over car thought we had isolated problem to headlight switch, replaced it. Still no power, now not even getting power out of fuse box. Neither of us are novices but not master car electricians either. Anyone have any idea. starter and seloniod are good, battery is new. what would cause no power out of fuse box????

did you connect the battery wrong or boost the car and put the booster cables on reversed?...if you have power going into the fuse box and nothing coming out then all the fuses must be shot.
Nothing was done to car for 2 days, like I said all basic were checked, was not jumped, fuses seem fine. I still think it has something to do with headlight circuit.

Have you checked all your grounds? Power needs a path to go to. Have you checked continuity across the fuses? Have you checked continuity between points on your power and ground cables (with battery disconnected)?
cleaned plug at firewall again every thing came on. i feel stupid now but im not convinced this was the whole problem.
