Help with stupid cs130 alternator

the battery light is the resistor, why do you have 2 resistors? The resistor you put in the line may be reducing the voltage going to the light causing it to be on

The resistor is wired in parallel so its more like a failsafe. If light blows the alternator will still have resistance needed. If It was in series then yea it would be more resistance. Still though this alternator is supposed to have anywhere from 35-500 ohms so even if I had 82 ohm resistor with light bulb I would think it would still only be around 100 ohms. I'm wondering if the stock brown wire is a resistor type wire, which may be screwing things up. Do you know if it is?

Do you have a diagram to show how you wired it in parallel?....the brown wire has no more resistance than any other wire with a similar gauge, maybe you have an problem with the circuit board

Its funny you would say that because I was thinking the same thing. With wired through gauge cluster, soldered resistor in between pink w/ black tracer and brown wire...with ign in run brown wire shows 10.7v and pink shows 14.3v. Got fed up and just ran a wire with 10amp fuse from ign1 at fuse panel through socket with 194 bulb and to alternator...14.3v on either side an light out when running. So yup cluster(printed circuit board) is the problem. Only thing I'm thinking is I still want to solder resistor back in now for failsafe again and then I'm going to mount light right next to my autometer voltmeter to still have functioning batt light

I dont know if you know the answer to this one but if I wanted to use an led light for idiot light would I need the resistor in series?
