>MODERATORS< -now that I have your attention....

Last year around this time there was a thread regarding declining interest in G body's. I see many new members posting now. I was wondering how the number of active members compares to last year?

It also depends on how we define "active".. I'm guessing that there are lot's of folks that visit daily but don't post that often.

How about calling an active member being someone who post 5-10 times a month. Maybe that could get a ball park number.

I walk every day but I haven't been to the gym in way too long so I can't really claim to be active....

Like others have mentioned its hard to define "active." Right now (you can find this info on the home page) we have just over 13,000 members.

IIRC, I think our friend GP403 did a "purge" of members who hadn't logged in for years, when the site moved to a different "operating system" (if you can call it that.)

He might be able to chime in with better numbers than I can, I'm still learning this moderation stuff ;)

purging inactives is an ongoing thing. If they've registered, never confirmed or never posted, and haven't visited in years then I'll get rid of them. Frees up the user names. They're obviously not returning. Do this every couple of months or so.

Yep, defining "active" is the hard part. Without laying out detailed stats the number of unique users as the almighty google defines them has been going up the last couple of years. There's always a "core" group that posts often, people come and go but there's always that core.....

bu the only guy who really posts all the time has his own user rank and nobody knows why he does it.
