HI i"m trying to fine out what would be a good combanation of hi-performance parts to install on my 400sbc its all stock

what kind of cam, and pistons heads. push rods. roller rockers .u knw stuff like that .thanks for any help

oh and what trans would work better for performance?

Too many variables. Street or strip. economy or all out race motor. How far from home will you go, what speeds would you need. A/c or not. It goes on and on and..........................................

More importantly...How much do you want to spend. i would sugguest looking on the internet to see what combo nations you cand find that within your budget, make sure you look at quality builds good luck.

im looking for more of a street performance type of engine .so what kind of things can i put in my motor to make it race ready.if need be.

As was said earlier, lots of variables here. You could run either hyrdaulic lifters or solids. Either type can also be had in flat tappet or roller.

Pistons: You looking at forged pistons or hyperutectic? Stay with flat top pistons as the flame travel across the piston tops will result in a better burn than a dome piston. You can still get a high compression ratio with a flat top piston, you just need a smaller chamber in the heads.

Pushrods will have to be measured for length after engine assemby due to block deck height, heads, head gasket thickness, etc. To get the correct rocker geometry,they can not be ordered until engine is assembled!

We are trying to help, we just need a bit more info. Your budget is differant than my budget. Your idea of a *street engine* may be differant than mine. You wanting a st eng than you can cruise for several hundreds of miles at a time or a street bruiser that will only see nightly use and parked in the garage when you go to work.
