For the gbodies that are out there that have only 200,000 miles on the engine and are still going hard.what do you guys do to keep those motors going strong with all those miles

HO oil pump for piece of mind but keep that oil changed and a decent filter and oil

My old '79 Malibu wagon had over 225K on it when I finally parted it out.

All I ever did different was run some heavier weight (HD30) oil in it during the warmer months...

have any of yall run synthetic oil in yall high mileage engines

My gbody doesnt have that many miles, but We have a couple vehicles with around 190k miles. Keeping the oil & filter changed is the main thing! Keep the fluids topped off & check them regular as well ! As long as you keep the oil changed & check it & all the fluids regularly, change trans fluid & coolant when it needs to be, they'll last a long time. Also, Change the rear end lube every few years too if you run them as a daily driver. Dont forget to change the air filter when it begins to look dirty. Keep the front end & driveshaft Grease fittings greased up. If you have any doubts that the differentials leak, check on them periodically. Replace belts & pcv valve every 30k or so. I generally run a slightly heavier oil, such as 10w40 instead of 10w30 when the mileage gets up there or I add a 1/2 quart or so of Lucas

I have used lucas motor oil before

I broke my 305 down last spring for a cosmetic overhaul. My grandfather was the original owner and it'd never been apart deeper than the valve cover gaskets. He was pretty fanatical about oil changes. Since he bought Delo400 by the drum for his log truck, that's what was used in my Cutlass since day one. I was really impressed with how clean it was inside. Even at 160K it doesn't smoke or burn any oil at all. I'll keep feeding it Delo since that's what it seems to like. Inside:

Ive got 69,000 showing on My five digit counter. I'm assuming its really 169,000 lol. I just change the oil reg top off all fluids buy good parts and don't hot dog the tired engine. Pretty soon will be draining the rear and Trans to replace the oils.
