Holden is GM's newest victim

Think it affects the values? I have a friend who isn't much of a car guy, thinks Oldsmobile's then Pontiac's were going to be worth more once they axed the brand. Doesn't make the cars more rare, how many exist exist, guess I never got that thinking.

Bummer about Holden though, I admit I didn't follow or pay attention to them shutting down the plants there. Seemed like a strong brand of GM but what do I know, I don't know how profitable or not they were.

This has been coming for several years. Chrysler stopped building there around 1980. They started importing US built models in the mid 90's
Ford which was one of the largest vehicle builders there discontinued car production there in 2016.
It has been known that Holden would stop production this year. It was originally said that the name plate would continue using vehicles built outside of Australia.

One less division for chebby to cry about. They soon may be the only survivor.

Holden has been receiving about $150 million in subsidies from the Australian government every year since 2001. I am honestly surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Holden was a good RWD full size platform

Everything else you just buy a toyota or korean when its a short boat trip away so its cheap shipping and RHD so its not like they need to do Japanese to Auz engineering like they need to do for US market cars.

If GM Ford or Dodge didn't have SUV's or pickups they would't be in business. Korean stuff is just SO cheap its hard to compete.

Without the Commodore all Holden had was the new FWD regal rebadged as a Commodore (yawn), the colorado (which they can ship there from the US or asia). the acadia (yawn), trax (barf), equinox (barf), and a astra (cruze).

Literally the only thing they had special was the RWD commodore which they dumped, and the colorado which ships from somewhere else.

If you watch the Fullboost guys on youtube they also said the Holden dealer network was terrible.

I'm just waiting for mid 2000's holden ute's to get 30 years old so we can import them into the US.
