Holly linkage/Stock throttle bracket

Yep, that's a Th200c alright. The "Metric" transmission. Uses all metric fasteners. Kind of a crap transmission, but if it works it works. I'd just use it for a while and either have your old transmission gone through or get a new TH350. sorry to tell you, but a Metric trans will not last long behind any V8. Mine held up through numerous drive to reverse shifts and neutral drops and kept on chuggin but that was with a V6, not enough power to hurt itself. All you need for this transmission to work is to have a line like the one in the picture and hook it to a nub on the carb. And hook the cooler lines up. They are reversed from the order on the TH350. Bottom one on the TH350 goes to the top hole on the trans and radiator and top one goes to the bottom. will probably have to rebend them just be careful. Make sure the cable is straight and not slanted up or down. Then look around online how to adjust one. There are a few videos on how and if you have a shop manual it should tell you. This transmission does not need any source of vacuum. There are no carb specific TV cables, just that one. If for some reason yours wont work, holley sells the little nubs that the cable clips onto on the carb linkage.

Mr. Sony thank you for your post, bummer i got a turd transmission. i called the trans shop they start at 1200 for a basic th350 rebuild.. next summer, or maybe i'll get froggy and smash in a saginaw... hehehe..

Not terribly hard to find 4 speed parts for these cars. Lots of people modify the clutch setup from third gen (Iroc) f body camaros and firebird that are more common. Might as well put a five speed if you go that route.

This is the set up I have on the 406 in my 79 Monte Carlo with a 4150 series Holley carb.
The brackets are Spectra brand I picked up through Summit racing. The carb linkage stud kit is from Holley and was sourced from a local speed shop (Jan-Cen here in Buffalo)

Hope this helps!

Should the kickdown cable be at the end of it's travel when the carb is closed?

I had used the adjustment procedure from the 1979 Chevrolet repair manual. Basically it calls for releasing the tab on the top of the kick down cable, rotating the throttle lever to wide open, push the tab back to the locked position.

I've not had any problems with this procedure and this transmission has been in use since around 1996.
I just used the same procedure on the 1979 Monte Carlo "Time machine" I purchased.
267 ci engine that just needed the Q jet and manifold that was sitting around from a past project.

Bob, where did you get your carb to intake gaskets? i have the set for a performer intake i got with my carb but they seem really thin? I sure like your set up looks beefy!! BTW i got the spectra throttle bracket you recommended, i was going to get the stud kit too but i want to get the right one for the thicker gaskets.

I found this one...http://images.oreillyauto.com/parts/img/large/hly/108-12.jpg # 108-12

Dann,
I'm running a 1/2 inch phenolic spacer sandwiched between the thin gaskets. I had tried a 1 inch but ran into hood clearance problems with my 3 inch tall K&N filter.

I was reading in one of your other posts on exhaust manifolds, before I went to headers on my 406 I was using a set if cast iron manifolds from a 76 Malibu along with the crossover pipe. Looking at your engine pictures you have 6 bolts per head for the exhaust manifolds not the 7 that the 267 had. If you had the 7 bolt heads you could have plugged the air injection ports in the 267 manifolds. You may have to go with this style or headers!

Funny seeing your location I recently purchased a low mileage 79 Monte Carlo from just north of Denver.

Hope this information helps!

Thanks a million Bob, I would go with headers if i new what headers fit my exact set-up, i really dont want ANY fitment issues, Iv searched google for header reviews from this site and some others but nothing really solid, I got the mechanical part down i just cant seem to grasp the parts interchange enigma....

Did you get the monte in colorado springs? most of the g bodies i see on CL are out of the springs most of the parts too.
