I think it's going to turn out nice. I'm also glad you didn't put an "overdone" cowl hood on it...even though I will be using one.
But, at least I have a Chevy. I can't stand cowl hoods on BOP cars.
Keep up the good work.

I think there ought to be a rule - no cowl hoods for 15 second E.T.s or slower. You may have a SMALL one if you run 14s or 13s.
Bigger one if you run 12s or 11s , giant ones permissible for 10 sec runners

you didnt like the idea of a 2" cowl add on?

anyhow, looks interesting... how high is the highest part of the add on?

Funny you asked. I know horror stories of people trying to bond fiberglass (or even plastic) to a steel hood and then trying to fill it with Duraglas or Bondo, add paint -all to have it crack up. Steel on steel seems the better choice. I searched for a small steel cowl and the only ones I could find were huge! I wasn't interested in the "little" one which was something like 32 x 48 x 2.5

I needed one and a quarter inch, the high spot on this is like 3"

sorta hard to see, but this is the side view

This custom hood really fits the bill for this car. It reminds me of an actual GN hood but it's still clearly different. I like your car. I wouldn't call it a GN clone. I'd call it a GN imposter. It's like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Ha! GN Imposter, I like it.

The car was originally a "Limited" with a tired, N/A 231 V6 it was "limited" in power for sure.

Just in case you forgot which Eclipse:

cool... cant wait to see the finished product...

you wont have a problem glassing a cowl on, most people just dont do it right, the problem occurs in the type of resin and how its mix... but the same issue can occur when using the filler... even over metal... as it cures all the way it shrinks back and thats when you may see a line or your welds etc... depending on how good you welded/and smoothed it out underneath all the bondo...

anyhow, good luck and cant wait until its done
