I put them in my 86 cutlass once, removed the hood bumps and bought a couple extra nuts and wide washer from the hardware store and bolted them up through the bottom of the hole where the hood bump stud screwed in on the radiator support. I used the remaining nuts as hood bumps on the threaded part of the hood pin stud and adjusted them accordingly by turning them up or down. I took them out eventually because they were useless and a pain in the *ss when it came time to open the hood, so I unscrewed them and put the hood bumps and stock hood back on.

Word of advice, since you don't want comments about using hood pins take advice on the brand of hood pins, you get what you pay for. Dont get the cheap-*ss mr. gasket ones.

Hi guy's, yes the pin location is best suited where the hood levelers are you'll even notice the underside frame has a curved indention from the factory where the leveler bumper makes contact as to help center it, the hood pins bolt right in place of the levelers and using the kotter pin as the hood stopper from the top side rather than a bump stopper on the bottom :D

I Used the moroso 5" from Summit with OEM style 70 to 72 Chevelle SS plates & gaskets, pins & cables, I can get the dimentions but I wouldn't remove anything there is a good location about 4 or 5 inches from side edge of hood & where the core support is double an inch or 2 from the hood bumper

I installed my hood pins where the factory adjusters were and to me that is the best spot and it always matches up to be somewhere on the flat spot on the underside of fiberglass hoods.
I then made new adjusters that go closer to the edge of the hood.
