I understand what you mean about the fiberglass hood fluttering around at highway speed. I didn't even consider that.
I like the concept of hidden latches and nothing exposed. However, the ones at Stage3 motorsports look pretty cool...a little pricey . They would look good in black.
The quick latches look pretty cool as well.

I am leaning towards the hidden latches/pins. I have a nice flat spot on the inner hood brace, just inside of when the height adjuster/bumper is. I could run a pin in there, and access it through the corner of the grill. I'll have to take some pics to show what I mean.

I was considering these Aerocatch pins for my hood.

I had s
looked at those too, I am not sure I want to commit to the giant hole in the skin of the hood. I have a pet peeve with hood pins, I like them being equal distances from the front edge and side edge of the hood, and the oval latch kinda screws up my OCD. lol. Some guys run the pins 12" off the side off the hood, and IMO that looks like dookie.

I am gonna check these out now.

Although most of those latch systems are functional, I think they have to look good on the car and not as industrial looking . For a race car, function is what matters most. For a street machine, aesthetics matter as well as function.
I'm really liking the hidden latch system. The fact that it's cable operated much like the stock hood latch, but with greater holding power.

All though I thought the Aerocatch hood pins were a very interesting concept being self contained, I realized since my hood is Harwood show series they would not mount cleanly because of the gap between the top layer and the second layer of fiberglass in the location I would put them.
So I went with standard hood pins and used the pins to mount a spring assembly to open the hood instead of the giant spring in the factory location.

And that's the thing, I need the function but what the form. The hood cost some coin, so I don't want to loose it. But, I just don't think pins that show are gonna go with the overall look of the car. I would love to try those cable deals, I will have to look around the U-pull-it at some imports with reverse opening hoods ans see what I can dig up. I figure the imports are smaller, so the hood latch set-ups should be a bit more compact.

I was thinking the same thing. The W-30 hood isn't a show finish, but is has the ram air pan under there, and I too don't think it would look clean under there. The spring idea is the best, the stock spring is a paint to try and use with a glass hood. I usually mount the spring on the core support. But having a few lower tension springs on the pins makes more sense and is cleaner.
