Struts were way too stiff on mine. I use a prop rod now

A lot of the struts or springs that I’ve seen used for the lighter fiberglass hoods tend to bow the hood by where the brackets attach. I’m using a prop rod on my temporary fiberglass hood until I get the funds for the steel cowl hood.

There isn't really a kit that I know of yet. I did a custom set on my Cutlass with glass hood. Used regal hinges, modified and welded to use a short strut. Had a company spec me some custom stainless struts and they work fantastic..

I was going to suggest getting a set of Unlimited Products hood springs p/n 906 for Malibu/El Camino hoods but they list then as "no longer available".

would you know what hood prop you used or from what car its from or do you have any pics thx

I cut the head off of an old golf club that my kids had laying around and that’s my hood prop. It stores under the hood behind the header panel when not in use.

I don’t do car shows so it’s never been an issue to this point. Probably not the answer that you were looking for. I can take a picture of the golf club if you need it. 😜

I have a harwood fiberglass hood and have used these shocks. Doesnt bind the hood and holds it up without a issue. These are the parts i used. Using the top mounting bracket from the old hinge. The mighty lift part # is the ball studs that attach to the shock. Found locally at my parts store.
