if you read the post a little more carefully you'll see that i said to get the manual for the preload specs. i was talking about having everything assembled, except for the dustcap, and preloaded. then shake the tire. that's why i didn't do step by step instructins. and a hair may not be the most accurate term, but its easily understood to be small. like i said, zero play is bad, a little bit of play is good. unless you are really going to try and measure the .003-.009in of freeplay that i believe is called for.
 
id take it to a shop brakes and wheel bearings aint something you want to get wrong.nothing like having no brakes or a wheel fall off at 60mph will scared the hell out of you.
