Cool danny, I worked Concrete from 1978 to 1989 with 4 different company's in and around Orlando.
Brick, block, foundations, beams, footers, slabs, Etc. Now my back is in bad shape from all the heavy
lifting over the years. I have been in the automotive industry for over 20 years and now 5 in the marine
side of the coin.
Worked as a machinist for 15 years. Now a titanium furnace operator. Hourly rate is livable but 100% free health care for my family. They give me 3% towards my 401k. Then the Christmas bonus is 40% of my yearly. This year was 21,500.00 before tax. So $1000.00 goes into my toy fund. Just remember toys always ALWAYS comes last!
I work as a mechanical engineer for GM Powertrain. In the late 70's I was a supervisor in the crank, rod, cam, and piston area and our plant built 305 and 350's.Since then I spent a lot of time in facilities engineering. Currently I'm the environmental engineer. Ironically, my car is the usually the one in the lot that's leaking oil, load, doesn't meet emission regulations, creates noise pollution, and consumes more than it's fair share of natural resources. Our plant now builds HFV6's, six speed automatics, Gen V truck engines and is just getting set up for the 2016 Camaro LT1 engine. I wish I could put a Gen V LT1 engine in my Malibu but I don't see that happening soon. Maybe in twenty years. It is getting a 1995 LT1 /4L60E though for this winter's G-body project.
My hot rod project money mostly comes from buying and selling car parts.
I worked construction for 40 years. I bought my 'vette in '06 while I was still working and I bought my El Camino 2 years ago after quitting work. So, right now the funding for my toys is savings, IRAs, investment income. Can't get Soc. Sec. or my pension for another year. And, then? Maybe another toy!
Im semi retired cant just sit around and do nothing so got a job manageing a 50 apt complex in the am salary and in the after noons work for the same company doing other things at different apts (they own alot) so between my ss income and the money i make in the am im fine so that leaves EVERYTHING i make in the after noons is strickly cutty money, so i have about 1,000.00 amonth to do what i need to do to the cutty, its just me and my gsd and my cutty, so at 68 im doing fine and happy with my situation, I just saved up a few months with the after noon cash and bought me a 2016 tilt trailor, next thing is building up the power plant
