Another fun thing those scammers do is use a real number being used & mask their call. My number has been used as I've had people redial it & called me.

I use to have a similar setup 20 years ago when I still had a POTS phone in the house...

I still have a POS phone, can't receive faxes by Voip so financially it doesn't make sense to have one phone line for faxes and a voip for voice. I don't receive that many faxes so a number that piggybacks on my voice line works for the fax and to it's only $6 a month

Just tell 'em you're an investigator, investigating the untimely death of the occupant.
If they don't hang right up, ask them their whereabouts for the last 48 hours, how did you get this #, how did you know the deceased, etc.
They usually don't call back when I use that one.

Free for land lines. I've had excellent results. Lets numbers like Drs and such that don't have an ID to go through but cuts out the garbage.
