My daily driver/street build 350 Olds 456hp/450tq i run has 3.23 for the hwy, but my 73 & 77 442 has 4.10 gears, and my other 77 442 has 4.56's. All with either a th350 or th400.

But if your just looking to put a beat down on the ricers around town go with 5.12's

I gave up on TH350's I tore the support lugs out of three cases. I even tried K-Savers. So when I had a chance to get a 700 I jumped on it.

Support lugs, HUH?

Well.... dont be too surprised if you dont win a whole lot more than you think.... many of these tuner cars are boosted and very quick, even if they do sound like chainsaws w/beer cans for mufflers..

A picture is worth a thousand words... When these lugs tear out the whole assembly inside starts spinning around it acts like a lathe and it will cut a 1/4 slot across the top part of the case.
k-savers work for a while but when it lets go it scatters even more metal in the transmission.

One good thing about a TH350 is that they're inexpensive to build so when (or if) you blow it up, you can afford to build another. Haha With that said I like the combo of a 200- 4R w/ 3.73 gears. I have that combo in my 77' and the '86..

Very true, I have been DDing my integra due to gas prices, I've spanked my fair share of well, pretty much whatever tries to run me. Lol, then again.. Most of the guys who sound like a chainsaw/lawn mower are the ones who have generic fart cans with a stock motor lol... I

It's the quiet ones you wanna worry about.

Both of you guys are right, the louder the muffler the more stock the motor. And just like with "*ss air", i.e. farts, the "silent but deadly" ones are the most dangerous.

But back on topic, I'm running a built TH350 with 3:50 gears in the Ford 9" and it's not too bad on the highway, but am looking to upgrade to a built 200-4R. I just need to open the wallet and find a shop / space with a lift to do the swap; don't really want to do another trans swap crawl, my back can't take it. As other stated, these cars and their older versions came with 2 & 3spd autos with up to 3.90 gears & were highway driven, motors probably didn't like it too much but... Gas mileage is based on right-foot input mostly. Gear Vendors unit is just too damn pricey for my taste.
