Guys- some update pics and I removed the steering column finally- how do I remove the brake booster? I took the master cylinder off already. Also, got the dash out, looked at the plastic duct work on interior, does all that unscrew from interior? Do I need to remove anything from engine bay like the heat/air to get the interior bare? Thanks image.jpgimage.jpg

Thanks... Any suggestions as to how to remove the rest of this dash with the duct work, etc? I labelled all the wires best I could, etc... What a pain!

There will be screws holding the ductwork in...should be 4 up top (defrost vents). I believe the rest will separate in pieces...I know the non air cars separate in sections...you have to look for where the screws are...

it's been awhile since I pulled an AC setup but should be much the same

Ok thanks guys... I suppose it would be a good idea to replace the booster since it's out as well? Also, this is an air car, do I remove the heater/air equipment before I remove the front clip? Thanks

The inner duct work can came out anytime now that you have the dash out...I would pull it out before you pull the HVAC box off the firewall. If your pulling the front clip (fenders, rad support etc) you might find it easier to pull the box off the firewall after you pull the clip....lots more room to deal with it. Just might have to be a little careful with the AC condenser and lines...unless your separating it all anyway.

Thanks.. That brings up another question(I am doing a frame off)... The heater wasn't working when bought the car as the hoses weren't even on the car. It does have air and have no idea if there is freon in the unit. How do I go about taking all that apart without it being dangerous? Thanks

why replace it if it is still working, I keep my money for parts I need or beer....:friday:

I hear you, just with it being that old, better now vs later? Any thoughts on how to safely remove the air conditioning system from the engine? Have never done that before. Thanks Penc,

You're supposed to have the Freon/R-134 evacuated from the system professionally. I didn't know this when I did mine in shop class in school... luckily mine was r-134 so I didn't come out of it with brain damage when I let it all go into the air (at least I don't think I did..)
