Re: electric choke

Trying to wire up my electric choke and I want to go with the oil pressure switch route. I've already got a pressure sender and gauge, so could I use a 2 terminal switch like the one below since I don't need the light? Or would that not work correctly?

Re: electric choke

That depends on if it's normally open or closed. You want it to be normally open, so it closes when oil pressure in present, and opens when there is not.

Re: electric choke

Just give it a continuity test. In your hand you want it to be "open". The switches used for idiot lights are normally "closed" so when there is no oil pressure, the OIL light goes on.

I just spliced into brown wire from alt then to choke, and works perfect. my brown wire (gen light) goes to my pressure swtich which i just have connected and hanging (not installed). I think I will be using your relay diagram to run my electric fans. I want one speed on all times then a temp switch and relay to turn on the second speed at 205. Thanks

this is the old topic, however I have a new question for it. I am having wiper issues and choke issues and the joke is wired into the wipers. so I have a good to do the relate which method here. . however at my local parts store they are either had turn signal hazard relay or a4 prong relay. so I purchased the four prong relay. it has a terminal for the horn or lights it says. A terminal for the relay ground. A terminal from switch and terminal from power source. Will this reelay work. I take it the power source would come from the alt. The ground would be any ground or body ground. So the wire going to the choke would be which one presuming this will work. Thank you.

For the spot on the choke housing "Edelbrock" the yellow wire is the choke Wire it's ran along the top of the intake then goes into my main harness into the firewall an black is just grounded to the choke housing

Re: electric choke

You need a switched 12v + so the wiper motor is pretty common. One of the wires off the alternator should be switched as well.

Yup, when I had my QuadraJet rebuilt they converted it to an electric choke, so I used the wiper motor to tap into the 12V+
