thanks clutch! it helps for sure, I can kind of see how the front bracket appears, the rear on mine MAY line up with the factory shifter so I may not have to fabricate anything too much, if I can score a set of factory brackets I think it would work flawlessly
That front bracket just looks like a pice of angle iron with 4 holes in it 2 line up with the factory console bracket welded to the floor and 2 into the front of the shifter I can't see the back and I'm not sure I want to pull the console at this time to get a picture I think something is living in there lol that car has been a 211 in progress for over 20 years

factory option

i'm in the same boat, getting started and taking things on is the hardest thing to do at least for me. my car hasn't been on the road since 2002 but once it gets running again I know it'll all be well worth it all. getting it running and feeling the thrill of it is probably the best way to get the ball moving!

Here are some pics of a dual gate from a 79 hurst.

I've been tbinking of doing this also. Would love to see your project on this.

This might not help, but I like the way it turned out. This is the dual gate I put in my 88 SS. The top plate is from an old 60's or 70's add on dual gate with console that I modified to fit the stock SS console. I only had minor trimming to do and the console sat back in the stock location with no issues. The hardest thing I had to do was make my own mounting brackets to mount it to the floor. I made those by cutting apart the stock shifter and using those tabs. I will see if I can get some pictures of the shifter itself this weekend if you would like to see how it's mounted?

From what car did you use the shifter? F body? A body? or is it a '79 shifter?
