So I have the 355 SBC for my Regal project completely assembled and this is my first time running a hydraulic roller cam (I have only ran solid roller BBC's ) and I would like to adjust the rockers before putting the engine in the corner of the garage until I have time to install it which I am hoping to do by the end of this summer but depending on my work schedule that could be the end of next summer so I am wondering if I should wait until I know for sure it is going in before adjusting them.

As far as I know, 1/2 turn preload past zero lash; verify with manufacturer specs.....
Sorry my question is not about how to adjust them but how long can they sit while being adjusted.

I would adjust them now so you can mark it off your list. I did mine befotb I installed the intake which made it easier for me

I would like to do that but wondering if that would hurt any of the lifters that are holding a valve open for what could be end up being a year.
With my solid rollers this would never be a problem but I am uncertain about hydraulic rollers that would be adjusted and not ran and then just sit.

I personally wait till I'm ready to run before and setting the valves. I'll prime the oil system again before setting them. When my engines get put away for the winter I back off the rockers so there isn't anything on the springs. Just me! (hyd & solid)

I leave my 355 with a roller cam and roller rockers all winter without backing them off and after 4 Winters I have had no issues. We would leave all the roller engines in our race cars sit on the off season with no issues and the engine builders we knew also just left their roller engines sit on the off season.

My BBC in my Monte with a solid roller I leave adjusted and just bump it over a few times throughout the winter just to keep from having the springs open for a long time.
It would be nice to have the SBC completely ready to run but since I was going to originally wait before adjusting the valves I think I will play it safe and just stick to that plan, Thanks for everyone's opinions on this.

You probably are already aware of this but just to make sure you do the lash adjustment with a roller can is different than a flat tappet
