I had a problem on my F150, the wire harness plug under the truck bed, near the spare tire was dirty.
Perhaps there is a wire harness on your car by the trunk that is dirty and loose?

Yea, I have a connection in the pass tail lamp that causes power to drop when the top bulb is in. Figured it was a ground somewhere and plan to go on the hunt, which is why I wanted to get the turn signal stalk wire sorted first. Thx for the feedback and I'm still hopeful someone out there will have an answer other than 'it should be obvious'.

you took that comment out of context..."unless it's the big flat one that should be pretty obvious where it plugs in." and you also missed on this part of flemming 442's post "column plug that we have no idea what it looks like".......

how are we supposed to figure out your wiring problem without even knowing the color of the wire and no pictures.

Other than checking all your grounds, look at all the "taped" areas...you might want to go over all that shoddy work with solder and shrink wrap. Inspect your bulb sockets and your bulbs. Sometimes the connectors on your bulbs become worn.
Bad grounds can wreak havoc as far as improper light functioning is concerned.

Post a pic or two of the wire that you're talking about.

Only 1 wire that runs from the stick, lets see if I can upload a pic... Hopefully this works. The tape situation is being corrected with solder and shrink wrap, as recommended.
