I must confess my irrational desire for early W body coupes

The new 2000 Regal GS I bought in black and charcoal was nice. When the temps got below 20 degrees it would make about 10psi and smoke the fronts like crazy. It had a bad habit of dying at the most inopportune times and failing to restart. I traded it off and have come close to buying another on a few occasions. 28-30 mpg was nice too.

28/30mpg? Maybe I'm mis-remembering but I think my best was 26mpg, all expressway. Mixed driving was right about 20mpg, I generally kept my foot out of it too. In fact since I was scared of the trans going knowing it was the weak link so I don't think I ever floored it from a stop even, just got on it when accelerating onto expressways or certain highways, the boost was nice. Not terrible on gas, heavy enough car and taking premium was fun, got me used to it though for the next daily driver as well 🙄😊

I know it's an N body, not a W...
But I want an Olds Cutlass Calais SO BAD!

Buddy of mine back in high school had one of these, 2 tone gold and brown (or maybe brown with gold accents, cant remember for sure.)

It was a perfect match to his Luxury Astro van conversion, the name of which I can't remember and is driving me crazy cuz they were the coolest thing going back in the 90's

I like them, also like the H- body and A-body coupes. I currently have a A-body 1988 Cutlass Ciera XC coupe. Has the red dot 3.8, floor shift, bucket seat full gauge pack, FE3 suspension. Bought it on marketplace for 260 bucks

If I had the money for a collection, either to keep as is/stock or modify, a Celebrity Eurosport VR and 6000 STE in AWD form would be in there. If I could find a VR wagon I'd be tempted to make it a daily driver. The 6000 would need to get modified so I can burn rubber on all 4 corners.

This AWD 6000 SE lives at my favorite yard. The rear drive parts got nabbed for a guy's ecotec/f40 Omega sport project.

My little sister had a 93 Lumina Z34 with the 3.4 DOHC. I loved how the car looked an ran. I hated working on it.

Yeah they were not designed very well from an ease of service standpoint. The closely related H bodies aren't quite as bad but they still suck in comparison to just about anything else.

32mpg from Memphis to Florence, SC. 30mpg on many occasions.

The 3.1s were pretty economical on gas IIRC. The 3.4s and especially the 3.8s were hogs. I've never owned a 3.8L with the supercharger but I'd imagine the get pickup truck gas mileage.
