In my Malibu I have a 350 with a Holley 750 carb it does have a electric choke but I disconnect it. It has a pretty decent cam. After starting it and letting it run for a bit it idles fine. Upon driving it around the block when I put it back in park it will idle at 1000 then start revving up to 1500-2000 rpm. What could be causing this? It only does this in park and neutral.

I had this issue before with my 750 demon, turned out to be a gummed up needle. after replacing and readjusting the float levels the issue went away. After that I added an extra filter before the carb.

If the engine hasn't got up to running temperatures and you don't have a choke, the heat riser or snorkel air cleaner you can expect it to have poor driveability till the engine comes up to temp...plus in your case the carb is too big for the engine

Yea the 750 is defiantly to big. It is what was on it when I bought it. I would prefer a 650 double pumper but being 17 and having to pay my own bills ain't easy saving up for sh*t haha.

Make sure the fast idle cam steps are not in contact with the throttle. A 750 defiantly isnt too much cfm for a 350 especially if its a vacuum secondary carb. That formula is horseshit, a 350 will run with a 950 if the proper steps are taken to set it up for the engine. The info and formula is for ppl that dont know their way around a fuel system and expect to take the carb outa the box bolt her on and go.
