first off u should put a 350 in it EITHER a Pontiac or Chevy 350,

I am curious as to why he should but a Chevy in? And really curious as to why you'd suggest a Pontiac? Did ANY Intermediate A/G (that's 78-88) cars have a 301? I am thinking that would be a bit tricky to get the right mounts. And again why a Pontiac? Just my humble opinion ... if you are sticking a V-8 into a Cutlass. Just seems the logical choice is an Olds. If you want to be creative ... my 2nd choice would probably be one of them big Caddy's (472/500). Chebbies are so done in the ground. :puke:

]Also a 200-4r doesn't guarantee B-O-P + Chevy ... seen one come out of an S series that was definately Chevy only.

I assume you mean an s10 right? Those have 700r4's not 2004r's, just a heads up. Ad yes the 301 was available.

OK you dont know anything about cars and you say your car is most definitely all original. Do you know how easy it is to change a transmission. Ridiculously all you need is a jack and the right tools, if your transmission goes out on your cutty do you get it fixed or go to the junk yard and get another one and drop it in. Unless you know that cars history, because you got it from grandma (your grandma) who bought it brand new you cant be sure, until you go over the car. I had a cutlass with a pontiac firebird V6 in it. These cars are 25 yrs old so you cant count on carfax. Im saying if you dont know the background history of the car for sure and you have not gone over it completely dont think its all original.

Carfax is a joke anyways

Blake 442 has some good links. A Chevy 350 will be the cheapest to build... B-O-P engines will be a little more, though I'm not sure how much. If you go with a Chevy 350 you'll also have the possibility of ~400hp with stock Vortec heads (just needs a set of aftermarket valvesprings and the right cam), even on 9:1 compression.

its all original i called the owner i got it from and he got the car from the dealership, and he aint changed anything on it

So you do not have a 2004r because from 81-90 that was only in caddillac's and your car is all original. You do not have overdrive then either. Check the transmission pan to see the shape to identify it. Hers another link...

The easiest swap would be a late model olds 350. But are you looking to rebuild your 350 or get it new or just put a used motor in...

I'm not sure where you got your info, but the 2004R was installed in many different vehicles, not just Cadillacs.
