Im doing it! C5 Brakes

For mine I just took the stock spindle and cut the stock caliper mounting ears off, drilled and tapped the dust sheild mounting holes out to 7/16-20 and then bought a pair of caliper brackets from www.flynbye.com

I originally took two old brake rotors and had the rotor surface removed on a lathe making them just hubs. But ended up buying billet aluminum hubs through Kore3.

Other than that I pretty much have the same setup as bigblockfrank above. My rear setup is bolted to a Ford 9" which had the correct housing ends for these brakes so I didn't have to drill and cut the stock housing flange. Be aware that 17" American Racing TTII style wheels WILL NOT fit a 13" rotor.

I also used the stock G-body E-brake cables and just made a couple of mounting brackets:

Did you have to do any thing to the 9" axle flange to fit the rotors over them? I'm doing a 9" swap as well when i get the cash. I like how you have the E Brake hooked up looks like its suppose to be there! as for the front I'm gonna stick with the Blazer spindle swap. so stay away from the AR wheels if i run 17s?

I didn't have to do anything to the 9" flange. I ordered the housing and axle package from Quick Performance and paid another $75 to have billet axle flanges welded on that allow these brakes to bolt up.

The one thing that I would do differently if I was to do it over again would be to order the rear housing a little wider possibly so that the shocks wouldn't have to be relocated. But, I already had my rear wheel back spacing setup for the stock G-body width and didn't want to change.

And yes, 17" AR wheels will not fit the front C5 brakes. I actually had to buy another caliper bracket and then downsized to the 12" LS1 front rotor so that I could get everything to fit.

You can see how tight they are even with the 12" rotor:

You'll have to check. It all depends on how they designed the wheel.

okay well i work at a tire shop so shod be able to see what fits when time comes to it. as of now im running 14s on stock tires. just so i dont waste money. im gonna start getting all the stuff together and put together then when im ready all i gotta do is pop the old one out and put the new one in its place
😀

I learned the hard way with the C5 set-up. I purchased some used 17" Torque Thrust that I couldn't use. I had to up grade to 18" wheels. The wheels didnt go to waste....I bought another Malibu.

Hmmmm decisions decisions. if i go with 18 inch wheel i might put the 13.4 inch rotor on it then. would only move the caliper out .25 of an inch more. any one had fitment problems with an 18 inch wheel?
