I have used a breaker bar, but that isn't the problem. The problem is that the 3/8 square hole is stripped, perfectly round, I can't get anything to get a bite on it.

If all else fails, see that little piece sticking out above the plug to the left? That can be pulled right out, it's not threaded in or anything. It's just a breather/overflow. I have filled a couple differentials this way were the original fill plug got fubar'd by someone else trying to remove it incorrectly.
