I was born long before seat belts showed up in cars....maybe a dangerous time but a much better time to be a kid than now IMHO

We rode in the back of a 63 Ford station wagon. Standing up on the back seat.

My dad bought a new Studebaker Lark in 63 with no seat belts and we did an 800 mile trip on a 2 lane road to get to my grandparents cottage so my mom and us kids could spend the summer. There was 5 in my family so the car was loaded down with luggage and the only time my dad could pass a truck was going downhill. My dad drove back home to work and then he drove back to pick us up. I did not enjoy jammed in the back seat with 2 sisters where I was a middle child in mores ways than just by birth.....
