For a while now, I have been thinking about building a street rod.
I wanted to build a Pontiac, since I am such a Poncho fan....

But I have several friends who have "been there, done that" and they all advised me to stick with a mainstream car ( to all of them, that means Ford ) if I ever hope to find a buyer for the car in the future.

So, in an unusually obedient mood, I checked out CL for some project material.

I found an ad for this:

1932 Ford, 350 SBC, TH350 auto, tilt wheel, digital dash, cruise control. It was being sold by the widow of the man who built the car in the late 1980's.

I went to look at it and ended up buying it!

It needs TLC (wiring is a little scary, the brakes are spongy and I REALLY don't like the red digital dash), but it's in the garage and I'm having fun!

"State of the art" digital dash with red bar gauges and tach...from 1986:

Much TLC required...

Here it is, loaded up for the trip home:

Glad I found it and I'm looking forward to enjoying the ride!

Pretty cool ride! I agree with you on the digital dash, it would probably look nicer with some off-white vintage style gauges. I was never a digital dash fan.

I've got a set of Stewart Warner black-face gauges that I removed from an old project car; I will probably use them. They have a '60s era hot rod look.

I dig the truck, Joe.
Cool score. I have a friend that has a '32 Ford pickup, '33 Cabriolet, and a '32 Ford roadster hot rod.
Good luck with it, and keep us up to date on your progress.

An old hot rod project is something that had been in back of my mind for decades.

You could always try to get a nice Poncho small block in it if you want to have the best of both worlds. I am a big believer in the sbc and bbc of all generations, but that truck would stand out even more and be cooler with something more off the beaten path. Have fun, nice project!

Man, I love old Fords! What a score! Why not put a Ford motor in? I had a '59 Ranchero with a hi-po 289 that was just a pure pisser to drive. A late model 5.0 with all the modern goodies is plentiful and cheap too.

That is a sweet looking truck, those wheel look like the Cragar Protech wheels I had on my 74 GP and I had a problem with the caps falling off...
