Joke of the day

I sort of remember the caffienated water fad but my guzzle of choice back then was Black/Navy Rum. By 92 I had returned back to College as a retread and the first thing I did, as a conscious choice, was to go teetotal durinthe semesters. I still got back with the program during the breaks and the holidays but 100% sobriety otherwise reigned during the school year. Found that I stayed sharper and more alert during the lectures and seminars and information tended to stay in memory longer. As related elsewhere, booze and the meds I am now on do not mix so, as my heart health is more important to me that having a beer, alcohol and I got an uncontested divorce.

I still like caffiene and am a lifer C-cola drinker, original/classic/regular. I can and do like to mix in a can of that caffiene/cola mix with my regular cup of mud but, the yuppie/preppie/neo-trendie variants that the marketers keep trying to foist off on consumers can go to the sewage plant. BLEAH!!!

Smart. My Doc explained to me that when you drink alcohol, the liver considers that poison, and directs all it's effort to eliminating it. The meds pass through without any benefit to you. I sometimes 'cheat' and have a timed beer that will be metabolized well before I take the meds. But I ended a lifetime of beer drinking with a FATTY LIVER. You will never know you have this unless it is detected in testing. It is somewhat reversible, and now I am in pretty good shape. But, uncorrected, the next step is cirrhosis, which is dead liver cells and will kill you.

If you want to win a bet in a bar or wherever, ask someone to name the one body organ that can regenerate itself? The answer, surprisingly, is the liver. As much as 70 percent or more of it can be removed and the healthy remainder will quickly go into reconstruction mode. Thia is why iit is possible to be a liver donor. The surgeon only takes as much as is absolutely needed to do the surgery, The recepient gets the basis for a new liver and the donor has their liver regrow itself over time. The only catch is that both parties have to be and stay sober and drug free for as long as the growth takes.
