Stop looking, that's how you end up in the frame off rabbit hole....

I've already had the frame off!

I need to re-read this thread from the beginning I think.

It's all out of order. Probably my fault, though I think a lot of stuff was lost when the site switched to the current platform from the old one. Here's a quick timeline of the car-

March 31, 2012- Purchased car as a project for $1000.

2012-2014- did some hack repairs on the body work, replaced the seats and steering wheel, made minor cosmetic changes and repairs and various mechanical repairs. Acquired lots of parts for later on.

December 2014-Sept 2015- with a lot of help from a couple mentors, repaired the body work correctly. Cut out old "repairs", cut out rust, made patch panels, welded patch panels in. Replaced hood with GN hood and doors with rust free doors. Replaced body bushings with energy suspension polyurethane bushings. Fully repainted the entire car. Fabricated and installed new fuel and brake lines, installed new fuel tank. Replaced carpet and installed trunk carpet kit.

January 2016- 3.8L V6 pulled and scrapped. TH200 given away.

March 2016- 1st Buick 350 purchased. Disassembled to bare block, then lost interest in the project.

April 2016-July 2018- car sat engineless under a cover, virtually untouched. I was uninterested in it and distracted with other projects.

July 2018 is where this thread picks up.

Guess it all depends on the flavor of the build. I'm inclined to give up a little power in favor of decreased underhood noise and increased resistance to leaks. Few things sound worse to me than header leaks. Plus I like the better ground clearance of factory manifolds.

That Hot Rod 350 was a nice combo. All that fat, flat torque right where you use it would be a perfect cruiser. Wonder how it would have differed with a Qjet?
That comp cam is the same cam I had in my 8:1 350. It's not a cam that does well in a SBB. Unless you port the sh*t out of the heads they need more emphasis on the exhaust in terms of duration and lift to get most out of it. Straight pattern cams don't do well in a SBB in general. If they used a crower level 3 it would've given a bit more hp at a higher rpm. They used chevy logic on a SBB. SBB can easily benefit from an 800cfm qjet they came with stock. 600cfm is just plain too small for a sbb.

AHHH Buick wheels ......finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They've been on there for a while. I like them quite a bit more than the Chevy rallies. I only have the tires because they were free but actually the white walls are growing on me.

Yeah it wasn't an optimal build, but it was still cool to see Hot Rod work on one. And still, even with a less than optimal cam, small carb and minimal head work, it put out really respectable numbers.

Good to see you back on the Regal! Will be watching for updates!

Thanks Kevin! Glad to have you following along! I'm glad to be working on it again. My interest still isn't 100% there, but I'm warming back up to it. Now that I've got the front clip off I'll be able to work without being so paranoid about damaging the body work. I essentially want to tear it down to a bare firewall and frame and build it back up from there. I've got to make a list of everything I'm going to need and then I'll start getting an actual plan together.

I agree on the white wall tires. They used to be everywhere and hated them. Now almost nothing has them, so on Grandpa's Buick😉, it will look perfect, more of a sleeper.

Spent some time removing more parts from the car today. I got the AC box and all the cowl stuff removed. Also removed the broken hood release cable.

Here are some pictures.

Some of the nastiness under the cowl panel-

Made a grim discovery I never noticed before-

Safelite windshield! Grr! 😡

I have a few mystery electrical connectors under the dash, maybe someone knows what they are?

These two plugged into the computer I think, do I need them anymore?

Not sure what this one is but it was hanging out above the glovebox area-

I'll have another update soon with details on exactly what my plan is from here.
