Jumper cables- CCA or copper?

Here in Ontario it’s illegal to use aluminum wiring in houses.

Wouldn’t want to use it for repairs in cars either no doubt, even if it costs me more for copper.

And agreed old is better, but finding parts has been harder with vehicles getting scrapped, and the borders being closed for a while now.

Around here that aluminum wiring.... well, its been a thing... it's cheaper.

Still, even in some in new-er construction because, again, it's cheaper - especially condos and multiunit housing that's going up.

I quit using jumper cables years ago and just use a small portable jump box that fits in the glove compartment. No chance of someone hooking it up wrong and no need to worry about finding someone to jump your car.

I place a set of jumper cables in each car. Older ones in 2 of the cars but the others have newer ones. I was more concerned with the quality of the clamps and their attachment to the wire than what the wire is made of. I have had cables that do not want to connect to the side terminals that GM batteries use. They have to be able to connect to these without sliding off. I do look at the gauge, it has to be able to carry the amperage needed.
