I think I will finally enter mine in one of these!

1978 Pontiac Grand Prix, 28,000 miles. Pontiac 400 bored and stroked, Sniper fuel injection, Kaufman ported aluminum heads, 11 to 1 compression, custom grind comp cam, Mad Dog headers, 3 inch exhaust, 200-4R transmission, 10 bolt 8.5 Grand National rear end 3.43 gears, 1978 Firebird functional shaker hood, 1978 Firebird suspension components and a whole lot of other stuff. I have to say that I really like of these Cutlass Salons, but damn, you need a tire to fill the wheel wells.
i had 235/60/15 tires on 15x7 color matched rallye wheels. tires rubbed. if you look at the wheel opening trim you can see it is pull down.

I "get" that Pontiac's marketing was what it was in that time (personal luxury, can't steal sales from T/A, blah blah), but DAMN! they should have built them that way.

Very nice. I would say probably my favorite GP ever.

Thanks! I think they should have built them like that also and I couldn’t buy one so I decided to make one! It’s funny, I actually talked to an engineer from back then at a car show a few years ago and they were really trying to do a 301 turbo with a shaker but the bean counters wouldn’t let them. Ugh!

1978 Turbo Malibu. I have owned the car since 1986. The silver stripes are actually photoshopped on the hood. The other pictures are actually how the car looks.
