Just bought an 85 elky for the wife

SHe loves it! It's in good shape. SOlid car but it does have surface rust on the bottom that I will need to sand down and paint. THe rest of the car is rust free. Anyway, it's got the 305 and what I'm assuming is a 200c trans. I already figure it isn't worth doing anything to the 200, if I'm wrong lmk (I have a monte ss trans but I don't plan on swapping unless the stock craps out). This 305 is anemic as fluck though. Seems to be getting alright mpg, we filled up and it used about a 1/4 of a tank on a 75 mile trip at 75mph.

1. What are scan values for this motor? I have winaldl and was thinking it was a good idea to check things out. No ses light on at the moment so that's good.

2. I know diddly about the feedback carb system. It seems to be working just as it should though but I have read that some things need to be checked out since things do sometimes fail or get worn.

3. What are worthwhile mods? It needs a radiator so I was thinking on going with an fbody radiator and 180 tstat. Also thinking about making a dual snorkel for it and having a local exhaust shop put a dual catback on and I was gonna gut the cat.

Any thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated. I plan on being on this site more often. I do need a front passenger fender trim and would like to find a set of wheels and tires. EIther mcss wheels or maybe just some nice outlaws or something 15inch

What a nice thing to buy ya wife . Ive always wanted to get a elky maybe one day i will . Anyways if u wanna wake up that motor a lil try taking off all that smog crap if u don't get inspections in your area .Dual snorkel idea is good too but if u cant even just a open air cleaner would be good .

Anyways ill be waiting for the pics lol i wanna see it too .

Sounds like a clean ride dual exhaust and open air cleaner will help....if its overdrive it's a 200r4 trans...

It's a turd compared to my GN. Hell it's a turd compared to the grand am lol! Was thinking about keeping the topper but she has a hard time backing up with it on and I have no place for it unfortunately.

I would like to get a tonneau cover also. I don't want one where I have to drill holes or anything like that. Does anyone have a suggestion?
