I plan on updating my turn signal bulbs to LEDS, what does the LED flasher actually do??? Is it a must to have one just to get the LEDS to work??? or does it just simply keep them from blinking off/on so fast.

An electronic LED flasher is required. A standard flasher requires a certain amount of load applied to it for it to opperate properly. Since the LED's have a much lower load than a standard incandescent bulb, they won't "trip" a stock flasher and thus will not operate correctly.

When you see a bulb flashing fast, that because something is wrong in the circuit. It was designed that way to tell a driver when they may have a problem with their bulbs but how many people do you see driving around with this problem? I see a ton of them everyday.

Just go down to your local autoparts store and buy a replacement electronic flasher for your car. Pull the old one out and plug the new one in. Simple as that. 🙂

Thanks for the information I know you have exp with LEDS in your cutlass so thank you for sharing.

Only question where is the flasher located at??? lol ill pull it and go match it at a autoparts store as soon as I can find it.

Yeah what FE3X Clone said, LED lights have negligible resistance and won't trip the flasher so they won't flash.

Now I was gonna do this too but I think they are over-rated. LEDs are supposed to be brighter and last 100000 times longer than regular bulbs Yadda yadda yadda.

I know a couple friends who upgraded to LED flashers and tail lights and reverse lights, etc etc..

The are dull, not as bright, and what's more, many of the so-called "long lasting" LED units are dead withing the clusters. And I'm talking about three people's cars here.

So I decided to stay with the good old fashioned reliable bulbs -- good enough for me.

Oh.. if you wanna still upgrade... I mean "upgrade" lol, the flasher is located in your fuse panel, under the driver's side dash. It's a round metalic plug-in, it should just pull straight out.

They worked perfectly fine when I bought a pair to test in the '88 CSCB:

LED's on the left, stock bulbs on the right:

That's the hazard flasher. The turn signal flasher is located just to the left of the stereo. It clips into a bracket on the backside but often times the bracket is missing and the flasher is just dangling back there.

So really, you'll need two flashers. One for the turn signals and one for the hazards.

No, one in the main fuse panel will work for now if you're low on cash
