LED taillights out there?

Ed,
For the wagon/ El Camino type lenses, will the LED's be mounted on a circuit board? I'm wondering how they'll fit in this type of housing arrangement.

Man, I would've thought a lot of progress was done on your wagon. I'm sure it's going to look awesome when it's done.

More body line finessing on the shell here and there but nothing major shops real busy wagon has been fill in work lately
Hopefully it'll get "filled in" a little more so you can get to assembling it over the winter.

Same here Jack. Curious as to how it will work out.

I was checking out those digi-tails. I really like the concept of the sequential turnsignals. I think a set of 1st generation Camaro taillights would look cool on a wagon. I wish I would've thought of it sooner. I think I'm done hacking up the bumpers.

I wonder how bright and effective the LED replacement bulbs are? The 1156-57 type.

I was thinking some of the same as well... They have some nice ones for sure... But they get pricey with the billet housings and all that. I about tripped out when I see a $800 price tag on the ones that I wanted to get for my 68 C-10...

But honestly I would love to have these set into the rear bumper...I think they would look sweet. There are other options for looks and some include the LED backup lights as well..

From my experience the LED replacement bulbs are crap... But that was years ago so they might be better now.

I think anything designated "billet" equates to $$$. But $800.00 for a set of taillights is definitely out in the moronousphere. I don't care what type of vehicle it's for.

I also heard something to the effect that the LED replacement bulbs are crap. There's just not enough LED's fitted on that little bulb to make that much of a difference. At least mounted on a circuit board, more LED's can be strategically placed to be effective.

My concern would be how you're able to fit a circuit board in a wagon taillight housing without having to cut an access slot, etc.

the 69 camaro taillight is a good idea! I have mulled over various different taillights to put in the wagon instead of the stockers.

There's not a whole lot of choices of taillights for these bumpers. Using Cadillac Deville taillights frenched into a fabricated housing was also a thought. Definitely doable.
The earlier Malibu taillights like '76-'77's would look kinda cool, too.
The '69 Camaro lights are almost a natural on our cars. So as you see there's some choices, but it depends on how involved you want to get.

Very true Jack. Since I'll be using a fiberglass bumped, mods would be easy.

But I'll stop here so the thread can stay on topic. 😀
