Lifetime membership RANT. Sort of. Major League group.

That's been coming for a pretty long time. I'm not saying the NRA is flawless and I think my previous posts have made that pretty clear but I think this is partisan politics at it's worst.
Certain people see it solely as a political organization because they don't know better. Lobbying/advocacy is part of what it's become, but..

Regardless, you can strip it's status and it simple refills in another jurisdiction and gives it's member/donor lists over.

Talk about tilting at windmills. Go after the corrupt execs if there's evidence. Remove them and the org itself is somewhat healed.

Hahaha. Like shutting down the projectile launcher club is the real meaning behind this stuff. The real reason has to do with launcher controls. However, even if this club goes down in flames, another will take its place. It's like a teacher's union. Go ahead and bust it up and make it defunct, if you can. Even if you win, you will lose.

I'm all for accountability of the executives. They get caught with their hands in the cookie jar, cut them off and bring in a new guy. But they've done got all the $$ out of me they're going to get as it is, so if they squander it, it's not going to be my cash.

I'm starting to feel like this lifetime membership thing is like those Average Joe type gyms where you can buy a lifetime pass, and they go out of business in 2 years. Seen that way too often in the 80s.

Now, GloboGym...that's where it's at!! Fuggin' Chuck Norris...

Washington DC is the most corrupt place on earth. You can tell, because if you say that out loud, you are labeled a bad person.

People say no, there are 3rd world countries that are way, way more corrupt than DC.

To which I respond, yeah, but did those 3rd world countries have $3-7 Trillion US dollars per year to dole out?

Orrrr....... save your money. Sit on the couch and don't go to any gym.

Thats how you win for real.

Interesting -- I finished paying for a lifetime membership to this major club a little over 10 years ago (installment plan, $25/quarter) and the only mailings I get from them are the monthly magazine ...

____

I was a member of the local Mustang club for 2 or 3 years but stopped going to meetings & paying dues as:
  1. When helping run the annual car show, there were too many chiefs while I was content to be an indian
  2. As I gained seniority in my day job I had to attend more meetings with a few stubborn old people, at one point I realized the monthly club meetings were becoming very similar to my work meetings and it wasn't worth the added irritation to attend meetings if I wasn't being paid for it
... and then I think it's very telling that though I spoke with the same group of people at get-togethers and a regular topic of discussion at meetings was how to attract new members, no one ever contacted me with "hey, what's up?" when I stopped showing-up
