I dont want a 350 in there because the are just not as efficent as the new motors i would rather rebuild the turbo v6 thats in there if i was going to go that route.not to mention if that heavy camaro gets 30 mpg to the gallon then i can only image what a 80 monte would get being that its a lot lighter than the camaro.
It would be easier, and probably cheaper just to get a E-rod LS3 crate motor, there really isn't much sense to put that much effort into swapping in a base motor V6 that would cost just as much as a V8. BTW, Gen 1 SBCs can get good MPGs if built right, most people just built them as cheap as for as much power as they can, not for best MPGs. Good heads like Vortecs, good CR, and proper quench, and at least a Qjet if not some form of EFI with a overdrive trans and you can get mid 20s easy. Most people just slap a gas dumping aftermarket carb on a a SBC built with a poor combo of parts and a non OD trans.
