That's too cheep. The turbo probably a piece of crap, but worth the money for the pipes. Problem is the head flanges are different from 3.8 to 3800 series. Maybe a guy could cut those flanges off and weld right ones on.
Those Sloppy Mechanics guys from youtube do some amazing stuff with the ebay turbos. That's too cheep. The turbo probably a piece of crap, but worth the money for the pipes. Hardly. The SFI 86/87 GN engines are WONDERFUL engines if taken proper care of. Respons very very well to mods, even more so than a small block chevy it being turbo and all. Many many aftermarket parts and good MPG to boot.Grand national engine are finicky and hard to get..
I think they were the hot ticket in 86, but in 2015 engines are getting hard to come by around here. I'm not in the grand national loop either so my sorces are limited. Seems like the grand national guys are blowing them up and rebuilding them all the time. I would love to put one in my car, but I think the 3800 is a better route for me. What a the h#ll is a old rating?!Hardly. The SFI 86/87 GN engines are WONDERFUL engines if taken proper care of. Glad to know I'm not the only one doing it. Why are those there any way? I've got a few pm's about it also.I would say the "old" rating was probably an oops by dr78442.
If it bothers you (as it would me) I would PM him and ask him to remove it. There's been some similar complaints about this very thing.
