That's too cheep. The turbo probably a piece of crap, but worth the money for the pipes. Problem is the head flanges are different from 3.8 to 3800 series. Maybe a guy could cut those flanges off and weld right ones on.
Those Sloppy Mechanics guys from youtube do some amazing stuff with the ebay turbos.

Ok I just got in a little deeper into the turbo 3800 idea. I got a good deal on another engine. 2000 3.8 engine with the harness and computer for 400 bucks. It only has 25000 miles on it.

I have decided the first thing to do is build a new differential. I am still going to go with the 3800 engine. The over drive trany I have for the 3800 will not work very well with 273 gears, so I why not build a stronger rear end with say a 342 or 350 gear. The engine part had been put on hold for now. I have to rebuild a engine in a skid loader first. A 350 gear would really wake up my car for now I figure. I do have a built 350 tubo trany laying around that might make it in the car too. If any one around Iowa has a rear end for sale let me know.

Grand national engine are finicky and hard to get..
Hardly. The SFI 86/87 GN engines are WONDERFUL engines if taken proper care of. Respons very very well to mods, even more so than a small block chevy it being turbo and all. Many many aftermarket parts and good MPG to boot.

I think they were the hot ticket in 86, but in 2015 engines are getting hard to come by around here. I'm not in the grand national loop either so my sorces are limited. Seems like the grand national guys are blowing them up and rebuilding them all the time. I would love to put one in my car, but I think the 3800 is a better route for me. What a the h#ll is a old rating?!

I would say the "old" rating was probably an oops by dr78442.
If it bothers you (as it would me) I would PM him and ask him to remove it. There's been some similar complaints about this very thing.

Glad to know I'm not the only one doing it. Why are those there any way? I've got a few pm's about it also.

Sorry fixed.. I must have hit old rating by accident
