ok tried a few things, did test from link and even unhooked exhaust and no change, but i can hear that it is cutting out like a misfire. hooked up a gauge and got 15 inches at idle and when i go to about 2500 got about 13 inches, then just a little faster and it cuts out and vaccum goes crazy jumping, sounds like its losing 2 maybe 3 cyl. tryed changing coil and cap separatly and no help, maybe pick up or module? what about the distrubutor shaft (bent, loose, or a loose gear)???? from what i heard with exhaust open sounds like loosing fire or skipping

maybe the spark timing is off. do you have a timing light? oh and those modules do go bad eventually. if you cant get it to run smooth by adjusting timing, then id say its the module.

have tried timing all over the board, going to get another module tomarrow, maybe even another dist. thanks for you help i'll post back my results. by the way tried uploading some pictures from email and desktop and can't get a small enough file to fit?

Good luck with the car. Also DONT forget to put dielectric grease on the bottom of the module or it will overheat and fail. And if you cant upload pics you may have to downsize them or upload them to imageshack or something.

Please post up any more findings you have on this. I'm having pretty much the same exact problem on my Olds right now, and have no clue wtf the problem is. Some times it sounds like one cylinder is misfiring (kind of what you said too). When I first start the car up, it runs pretty decent and smooth. Once I kick down my idle, the car idles rough, almost sounds like it's misfiring, and has no power at all. The car wants to die when put in gear and trying to drive it.

I think it may be my carb. Already tried pulling the dizzy and looks good, was tight to begin with, and timing is ok.

Also, after kicking the idle down, the exhaust gets SUPER rich and turns into tear gas practically. My next try is to swap out my carb for my buddy's mechanical Quadrajet off a big block chevy.

What carb and distributor are you using? Is it the one off the 350 or the 307?

i'm using the dist off the 76 350, and a carb from a 79 pont. 455, its a mechanical 800cfm, the one that came with the 350 was not reusable, heading to a local salvage yard now to get a complete dist, have a friend that works there and he said he has one that is in good shape, the one i have has a little slack in it. didn't help, still have same problem, going to get a fresh holley spread bore and if that don't work going to pull it out and get a degree wheel and start from scratch

:? well got my dad to come listen to my problem, and changed carb with a 700 holley, and he told me to change the valve springs, we put a tach on it and found that it was tuning about 4000 when it starts cutting out and he said it was the valve springs "floating". we took valve covers off and springs are soft. dumb mistake of my part my not putting stiffer springs on. going to change springs and pushrods and will poast later :blam:
